Job Description
Are you an organised and analytical logistics professional who enjoys keeping things moving?
We’re working with a growing organisation in the
Milton Keynes area that is looking for an experienced Shipping Coordinator to join its busy operations team.
This is a great opportunity for someone who understands that successful shipping is about more than simply booking a carrier.
You’ll be responsible for co-ordinating outbound shipments, working with transport providers, solving issues and making sure customer orders leave accurately, on time and to the right place.
You’ll be joining a fast-paced environment where attention to detail, communication and problem-solving really matter — and where your ability to spot issues and find better ways of doing things will be genuinely valued.
- WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- You'll play a key role in the day-to-day shipping and dispatch operation, including:
- Co-ordinating outbound shipments and ensuring orders are dispatched accurately and on time.
- Booking and managing transport with courier, pallet and freight providers.
- Preparing shipping documentation and transport paperwork.
- Working closely with warehouse, operations, customer service and other internal teams.
- Managing multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Monitoring shipping activity and investigating any delays, errors or discrepancies.
- Analysing operational data and reports to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Supporting carrier performance management through KPIs and SLAs.
- Maintaining accurate stock movements and inventory information.
- Identifying root causes when things go wrong and putting practical solutions in place.
- Contributing ideas that improve customer service, operational performance and cost control.
- Ensuring all activities are carried out in line with company procedures and health and safety requirements.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for someone with previous experience in a role such as Shipping Coordinator/Logistics Coordinator/Dispatch Coordinator or Transport Coordinator
You'll ideally have experience working in a warehouse, manufacturing, distribution or logistics environment and be comfortable co-ordinating multiple shipments and transport providers.
You'll also need
- Experience using a WMS, TMS or ERP system.
- Good knowledge of shipping, dispatch and warehouse processes.
- Experience preparing shipping and transport documentation.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Good numerical and analytical ability.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong organisation and planning skills.
- The ability to prioritise and manage competing demands.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A practical and proactive approach to problem solving.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- YOUR PERSONALITY
You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, but you do need to be someone who takes ownership and gets things done.
You'll be naturally organised and methodical, calm when things get busy and confident investigating problems rather than simply passing them on.
We're looking for someone who is
- Analytical and logical
- Proactive and solution-focused
- Customer-focused
- Reliable and dependable
- Calm under pressure
- Adaptable and positive
- A strong team player
- Personally accountable
- Always looking for ways to improve
It would be great if you also have experience with
- Export and customs documentation.
- Courier, pallet and freight networks.
- Carrier KPIs and SLAs.
- Lean or Continuous Improvement.
- Advanced Excel, including Pivot Tables and XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP.
- A qualification in Logistics or Supply Chain.
- Lean, Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement training.
This is an opportunity to join an organisation where your experience can make a real difference.
You'll have the chance to take ownership of the shipping operation, build strong relationships with internal teams and external logistics partners, and use your analytical skills to identify opportunities to improve performance.
If you're someone who enjoys solving problems, keeping customers happy and making sure the operation runs smoothly, we'd love to hear from you.
