We are seeking an experienced Fire & Building Safety Manager to take a leading role in maintaining and improving safety standards across a diverse residential property portfolio. This position offers the chance to work within a forward-thinking organisation where your technical knowledge will have a direct impact on resident safety, regulatory compliance and the ongoing improvement of building standards.
You will oversee key fire and building safety programmes, provide assurance that statutory obligations are being met, and work closely with internal teams, residents, contractors, consultants and regulatory bodies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of fire and building safety programmes, from planning through to completion and assurance.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with relevant legislation, including the Building Safety Act 2022 and Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order.
- Coordinate and maintain Building Safety Case information and ensure accurate Golden Thread records are available.
- Oversee fire risk assessment programmes, monitoring recommendations and ensuring remedial works are completed effectively and on time.
- Manage the performance of external contractors and specialist consultants, ensuring appropriate standards are maintained and CDM obligations are met.
- Prepare detailed reports, compliance updates, governance documentation and information required by regulators.
- Work collaboratively with residents and stakeholders to promote effective communication around building safety.
- Assist with regulatory visits, internal and external audits, investigations and compliance reviews.
- Provide leadership, coaching and direction to members of the fire and building safety team.
- Contribute to emergency and out-of-hours escalation arrangements where required.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen systems, processes and controls and drive ongoing improvements in building safety.
About You:
We are looking for someone with a strong technical understanding of fire and building safety who can confidently operate within a regulated housing, property, construction or similar environment. Comprehensive knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Order and associated legislation. Proven experience managing fire safety and/or building safety programmes within a residential, property, construction or comparable setting. Practical understanding of Building Safety Cases, Golden Thread information and regulatory assurance. Familiarity with CDM Regulations and the management of contractors and consultants. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and accurate technical reports. Excellent organisation, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. Previous experience supervising, mentoring or managing team members. A proactive approach to improving safety, compliance and operational processes. A genuine commitment to protecting residents and maintaining safe homes.
Qualifications & Experience:
Relevant professional qualification in fire safety, building safety or a related discipline, such as NEBOSH or equivalent. A relevant building-related qualification or degree, or substantial equivalent professional experience. At least three years' experience working within fire safety, building safety or a closely related field. Evidence of maintaining professional knowledge through ongoing CPD.
