An established and growing education organisation based in Cambridge is seeking an experienced HR Co-ordinator to join its busy HR function. The organisation delivers high-quality education programmes to individuals and organisations, working with leading academic and professional experts. About the role
This is a newly created position supporting the HR Manager in delivering a comprehensive HR service across the organisation. The successful candidate will act as a key first point of contact for employees, managers, candidates and external stakeholders. The role covers a broad range of HR administration and coordination, with significant involvement in recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training and development, payroll administration and HR projects. There is scope for the successful candidate to help shape the role and contribute ideas for improving HR processes and services.
Key responsibilities
- Co-ordinate recruitment campaigns from initial planning through to appointment.
- Prepare job adverts, role profiles and recruitment documentation.
- Coordinate interviews, including diaries, rooms, IT, candidate communication and interview materials.
- Support temporary recruitment and liaise with recruitment agencies.
- Co-ordinate references, pre-employment checks and new starter arrangements.
- Organise and deliver HR inductions and onboarding activities.
- Act as a first point of contact for routine HR queries and escalate complex matters appropriately.
- Support processes relating to probation, absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance matters.
- Manage employee departures and ensure records are updated accurately.
- Co-ordinate training and development activities.
- Support coaching, job-swap and secondment programmes.
- Process HR information required for payroll and liaise with payroll teams.
- Contribute to HR projects and identify opportunities to improve processes.
- Process invoices and assist with HR-related budget administration.
- Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records.
- Provide general HR support as required.
About you
The successful candidate will have:
- A degree or equivalent level of education.
- Substantial experience working in an HR role within a busy organisation.
- Knowledge of HR administration and coordination.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A professional, discreet and diplomatic approach.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when working under pressure.
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
- A proactive approach and the confidence to use initiative.
- Good numerical skills, including experience working with spreadsheets and budgets.
- An understanding of HR policies, employment law and good HR practice.
- A strong commitment to confidentiality, fairness and professionalism.
Desirable experience
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Higher Education or Executive Education.
- University systems and processes.
- Working within a subsidiary or limited-company environment.
- CIPD qualification or working towards one.
