Salary: £30,257.70 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week

Working Pattern: Wednesday–Saturday, 7:00am–3:00pm; Sunday, 7:00am–2:30pm

Are you an experienced chef who takes pride in producing fresh, nutritious and enjoyable food? This is an excellent opportunity to join a welcoming, community-focused environment where you can develop your culinary skills while enjoying a more balanced working pattern with no regular late evenings. As Chef de Partie, you will play an important role within the kitchen, preparing meals for residents, visitors and guests. You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute ideas to menus and take on additional responsibility when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present a high standard of meals, catering for a range of dietary requirements and preferences.
  • Help create varied menus using seasonal ingredients and resident feedback.
  • Support the Catering Manager with the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
  • Assist with stock management, ordering and controlling food costs.
  • Take responsibility for the kitchen during periods when the Catering Manager is unavailable.
  • Ensure meals are produced and served efficiently and to a consistently high standard.
  • Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, food hygiene and health and safety.
  • Work closely with colleagues to deliver an efficient and welcoming catering service.
  • Listen to customer feedback and help identify ways to improve the dining experience.

About You:

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about food and enjoys creating dishes that make a difference to the people they serve. You’ll be organised, reliable and confident working both independently and as part of a wider team.

  • Previous experience working in a professional kitchen.
  • A genuine interest in food quality and presentation.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage your own workload and remain calm during busy service periods.
  • An understanding of food hygiene, health and safety requirements.
  • Confidence using standard commercial catering equipment.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Food Hygiene qualification would be advantageous, although training can be provided for the right candidate.
  • NVQ or equivalent qualification in professional cookery, kitchen larder or pastry (Desirable).
  • Advanced Food Hygiene certification.
  • Experience working within a care, retirement living or similar residential setting.
  • Background in event, function or large-scale catering.
  • Previous experience supervising a kitchen or stepping up in the absence of a senior chef.
