Salary £60-65k+ (including car allowance)

Responsible for managing building defect investigations and remediation programmes across residential assets, including higher-risk buildings. The role leads defect identification, risk assessment, corrective action planning, and delivery of remediation works, ensuring compliance with safety legislation, technical standards, budgets, and project deadlines.

Working closely with internal teams, contractors, regulators, residents, and stakeholders, the postholder will drive quality improvements, minimise building safety risks, and ensure effective governance, reporting, and record management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead defect discovery, assessment, tracking, and resolution across building projects and operational assets.
  • Develop and deliver remediation programmes that address underlying causes, reduce repeat failures, and align with financial, operational, and safety objectives.
  • Manage remediation projects from planning through completion, including programme control, budgets, resources, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Monitor risks linked to building safety, fire safety, compliance, and latent defects, implementing interim controls where required.
  • Ensure all remedial works meet legislative, regulatory, and technical requirements, including building and health & safety standards.
  • Maintain robust quality assurance processes, challenge poor workmanship, and promote safe working practices.
  • Produce clear project reporting, performance data, dashboards, and escalation updates for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure information management supports auditability, compliance, and the “golden thread” principle.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, consultants, contractors, regulators, and internal teams, managing communications, expectations, and complaints professionally.
  • Support continuous improvement through lessons learned, policy development, and best practice implementation.
  • Provide information and compliance support for regulatory bodies and statutory submissions.
Skills & Experience
  • Significant experience delivering building remediation, defect management, or complex construction projects, including high-risk buildings.
  • Strong understanding of building regulations, approved guidance, construction safety legislation, and compliance frameworks.
  • Proven background in contract management, stakeholder engagement, budgeting, forecasting, and project delivery.
  • Knowledge of fire safety, remediation works, asset management systems, and leaseholder consultation desirable.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, communication, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Able to manage competing priorities within complex operational environments.
Qualifications
  • Qualification in Construction, Building Services, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Fire safety and building safety qualifications advantageous.
