We are looking to place an experienced Reach Truck Driver looking to work in the warehouse doing various roles. After 3 months, the company can take you on full time, and give you an opportunity to grow.

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Warehouse Operative to join our growing team. This role involves handling inbound and outbound cargo, primarily books, ensuring shipments are processed efficiently, safely, and in line with company standards and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, good physical fitness, and a solid understanding of warehouse operations and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and inspect incoming book packages and pallets, verifying quantities and checking condition.
  • Accurately record goods using the Warehouse Management System (WMS), including receipting, put-away, and picking.
  • Prepare and process outbound shipments: pick, pack, label, wrap, and stow cargo for dispatch.
  • Operate forklifts and other Material Handling Equipment (MHE) where licensed (e.g., Counterbalance, Reach Truck, PPT).
  • Load and unload lorries and containers safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and safety standards within the warehouse environment.
  • Ensure correct use of PPE and adhere to all Health & Safety procedures.
  • Support other warehouse functions as required, including container offloading and general warehouse duties as directed by management.

Skills & Experience Required

  • FLT Reach Licence - in date and external.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse environment — ideally within freight forwarding, cargo, shipping, or logistics.
  • Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Basic computer literacy (WMS, inventory systems, handheld scanners).
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented with a proactive attitude.
  • Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks.
