We have partnered with an established UK manufacturer within the metals and engineering sector, who are expanding their team with a Foundry Casting Operative to join its production team. The company operates advanced manufacturing facilities and supplies precision-engineered copper alloy products to an international customer base.
Working as part of the foundry team, the successful candidate will help ensure the safe and efficient operation of continuous horizontal casting lines within a copper alloy production environment. A strong focus on Health & Safety and environmental compliance is essential at all times. This role involves heavy lifting and working in a hazardous, hot environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Preparing heats in line with various copper alloy specifications
- Operating and maintaining furnaces, including: Melting, skimming, and testing metal
- Making alloy adjustments using basic calculations
- Furnace cleaning and maintenance duties
- General housekeeping within the casting area
- Inspecting cast strip quality and unloading cast coils
- Using basic computer systems to record and book in coils
- Completing production and equipment reports, including FLT documentation
- Reporting operational issues to supervisors and team leaders
- Strong commitment & understanding of Health & Safety and safe working practices
- Physically capable of working in a foundry and industrial environment; heavy lifting required
- Flexible and reliable approach to shift working
- Previous foundry, casting, furnace, or manufacturing experience would be advantageous, but not essential as full training will be provided
- FLT licence experience highly desirable
- Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Good attention to detail and quality inspection skills
- Ability to follow technical instructions and production procedures
- Good communication skills with the ability to report issues clearly
They are open to people out of industry; a structured training programme will be provided and tailored to the successful applicant's experience and development needs.
Mandatory Shift Pattern:- 4 x 12-hour shifts (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off)
- Rotating pattern covering a 24/7 operation
