Monday-Friday 8AM - 5PM | 18-Month Fixed-Term Contract | Salary £33,000 per annum

Our client, a well-established and respected engineering business, is seeking an experienced Mild Steel MIG Welder / Fabricator to join their team on an 18-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to work on a variety of interesting projects within a supportive and fast-paced workshop environment.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on fabricator with a strong eye for detail, a commitment to high-quality workmanship, and the ability to thrive as part of a close-knit team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out high-quality MIG welding and fabrication of mild steel components
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, including CAD and Inventor designs
  • Safely operate a range of workshop machinery and tools, including pillar drills, mag drills, bandsaws, angle grinders, ironworkers, and guillotines
  • Accurately measure, cut, and assemble materials in line with specifications
  • Perform quality checks to ensure all work meets required standards
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment
  • Support general workshop upkeep and housekeeping
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to meet production deadlines
  • Assist with assembly tasks, including bolting and painting
  • Load and unload steelwork for deliveries to and from the yard
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in MIG welding and mild steel fabrication
  • Ability to confidently read and interpret CAD and Inventor drawings
  • Strong competence in using workshop tools and machinery
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach
Desirable:
  • NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Welding, Fabrication, or a related field
