Our client, a well-established and respected engineering business, is seeking an experienced Mild Steel MIG Welder / Fabricator to join their team on an 18-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to work on a variety of interesting projects within a supportive and fast-paced workshop environment.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on fabricator with a strong eye for detail, a commitment to high-quality workmanship, and the ability to thrive as part of a close-knit team.
- Carry out high-quality MIG welding and fabrication of mild steel components
- Read and interpret technical drawings, including CAD and Inventor designs
- Safely operate a range of workshop machinery and tools, including pillar drills, mag drills, bandsaws, angle grinders, ironworkers, and guillotines
- Perform quality checks to ensure all work meets required standards
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment
- Support general workshop upkeep and housekeeping
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues to meet production deadlines
- Assist with assembly tasks, including bolting and painting
- Load and unload steelwork for deliveries to and from the yard
Proven experience in MIG welding and mild steel fabrication is essential, along with the ability to confidently read and interpret CAD and Inventor drawings. Strong competence in using workshop tools and machinery, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to quality are also required. An NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Welding, Fabrication, or a related field is preferred.
