Our client is a well-established SME engineering fabrication business specialising in the bespoke design, manufacture, and installation of architectural metal structures. Their work supports a variety of sectors, and projects are primarily fabricated in stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminium.
Due to a busy order book, they are seeking an experienced CAD Designer with a background in sheet metal fabrication to join a growing design team. The role focuses on producing technical general arrangement designs, along with 2D and 3D production drawings for bespoke architectural structures.
This position requires close collaboration with customers, internal manufacturing teams, and installation crews to ensure designs move smoothly from concept through to fabrication and site assembly.
Key Responsibilities- Produce technical general arrangement drawings in both 2D and 3D
- Create accurate production and component drawings for metal fabrication
- Undertake site surveys to inform design solutions
- Work closely with clients including transport operators, architects, and Tier 1 contractors
- Support manufacturing and installation teams throughout fabrication and on-site assembly
- Manage your own design projects through the full design phase
- Ensure designs meet structural, construction, and industry requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the metal fabrication industry
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and Inventor 3D
- Proven experience producing fabrication engineering drawings
- Good understanding of construction methods and structural requirements
- Confident communicator, comfortable liaising with clients and internal teams
- Strong organisational and project management skills
- Experience working on architectural structures
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Practical, problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
