A well-established and friendly legal practice is seeking a Residential Conveyancing Legal Assistant to join its busy Bedford office. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised, enthusiastic individual to become part of a supportive residential property team with genuine long-term development prospects.
The role would suit someone with conveyancing experience or a strong legal administrative background who is looking to progress within residential property law.
The Role
You will provide day-to-day administrative and legal support to fee earners, ensuring residential property matters run efficiently and clients receive a professional, responsive service. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing general administrative support within the residential property team
- Preparing and issuing client quotations
- Acting as a point of contact for clients, solicitors, lenders, and estate agents
- Providing regular client updates and monitoring matter progression
- Opening and closing files on the case management system in line with AML, SRA, and CQS requirements
- Assisting with freehold and leasehold conveyancing matters
- Carrying out online searches and managing search results
- Using the Land Registry portal to submit registrations, respond to requisitions, and obtain official copies, leases, and title plans
- Preparing Stamp Duty Land Tax calculations and submitting applications
- Preparing bills, receipts, and payments for submission to the finance team
- Providing occasional reception cover when required
About You
- Previous experience as a Conveyancing Assistant is preferred
- Good understanding of the day-to-day operations of a legal office
- Confident using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Working knowledge of case management systems
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple matters and work effectively under pressure
- Clear and professional communication skills
- Basic understanding of the residential conveyancing process
The Package
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:15 (1-hour lunch break)
- Start: Immediate start available
