About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Service Engineer to join a growing engineering business based in Hertford. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer who enjoys working independently, solving technical problems, and delivering outstanding customer service. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, servicing, and maintaining compressed air and vacuum equipment at customer sites, ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently while building strong working relationships with customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, service and maintain compressed air and vacuum equipment, including associated systems.
- Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Liaise with the Service Department to ensure work is completed efficiently and to schedule.
- Keep customers and colleagues updated on the progress of jobs.
- Complete accurate service reports and documentation.
- Identify opportunities for improvements or additional customer requirements and communicate these internally.
- Work in line with all Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Carry out any other duties appropriate to the role.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Strong mechanical and/or electrical engineering knowledge.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive and professional approach to your work.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- The ability to live within approximately 20 miles of Hertford.
- The right to work in the UK.
