About the Role
We are looking for an organised and proactive Traffic Planner to join a busy transport operation based in Felixstowe. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced transport professional to play a key role in planning and coordinating daily container transport operations. Working in a fast-paced logistics environment, you will be responsible for scheduling vehicles, allocating drivers, and ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and on time. You'll work closely with drivers, customers, and internal teams to maintain high service levels while maximising fleet utilisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate daily transport operations.
- Allocate work effectively to drivers and vehicles.
- Optimise routes to maximise fleet efficiency and minimise delays.
- Monitor live traffic conditions, port operations, and customer requirements.
- Make real-time adjustments to transport plans as operational demands change.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and internal departments.
- Maintain accurate transport records and update transport management systems.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the transport operation.
About You
To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:
- Previous experience in transport planning, logistics, or container haulage.
- Good knowledge of transport planning and traffic management.
- Experience using transport management systems (experience with Truckcom would be an advantage).
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to remain calm and make effective decisions under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work on-site in Felixstowe.
