Location: Field‑based role covering the South and South West of England and Wales. Preferred to be based within easy access to the M5 corridor, particularly around the Weston‑super‑Mare or Taunton areas. Regular travel across Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Bristol area, and Wales. Occasional national and European travel may also be necessary.

An experienced Electromechanical Field Service Engineer is required to support specialist equipment across a range of industries, primarily ophthalmic equipment, with additional responsibility for digital cinema projection systems and robotic equipment. The role involves hands‑on field engineering work including installation, servicing, maintenance, upgrades, repairs and customer support. Participation in a 1‑in‑4 on‑call rota is also required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation, servicing, repair, upgrade and maintenance of specialist electromechanical equipment
  • Carrying out equipment moves, modifications and configuration changes
  • Delivering a professional and customer‑focused service at all times
  • Diagnosing faults and resolving technical issues efficiently and methodically
  • Maintaining effective communication with management and internal teams
  • Completing service documentation and system updates accurately and within required time‑scales
  • Managing vehicle stock and spare parts inventory
  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety procedures and environmental regulations
  • Supporting customer returns and equipment disposal processes
  • Flexibility to provide support across other UK regions when required
  • Attending and successfully completing technical and product training courses

Skills & Experience

  • Previous field service engineering experience in an electromechanical environment
  • Experience working with ophthalmic or digital projection equipment is advantageous
  • Strong electrical, electronic or software engineering knowledge
  • Excellent fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Organised, professional and reliable approach to work
  • Full clean UK driving licence essential

Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English, desirable
  • Engineering qualifications such as City & Guilds, ONC or HNC preferred

Additional Information

  • Candidates must hold a valid passport or be willing to obtain one immediately
  • Occasional early starts and late finishes may be required
  • Core coverage hours are between 8:00am and 6:00pm
  • Standard working hours are 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday, excluding breaks
  • Participation in a 1‑in‑4 Saturday/on‑call rota is required
