The Role
We're looking for a hands-on and proactive Mobile Site Engineer to join a growing operations team, taking responsibility for the maintenance, reliability and overall condition of equipment across a portfolio of sites throughout the UK. This is an autonomous, field-based position that would suit an experienced installation or field engineer who enjoys being out on the road, solving problems and taking ownership of their work. You'll carry out planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose technical issues and ensure site equipment remains fully operational. You'll also coordinate subcontractors, complete site documentation and make practical, on-the-spot decisions to keep work progressing safely and efficiently. The role involves regular travel within your assigned region, so a full, clean UK driving licence is essential. A company van will be provided.
What You'll Be Doing
- Maintaining and troubleshooting site equipment including ANPR cameras, CCTV, Pay & Display machines, tablets, kiosks and signage
- Diagnosing and resolving technical issues on site to minimise equipment downtime
- Installing and replacing signage, equipment and kiosk consumables
- Carrying out scheduled site visits and general site health checks
- Planning and completing preventative maintenance activities
- Working independently from installation plans and site survey documentation
- Producing and maintaining clear site documentation, including site maps and installation plans
- Coordinating subcontractors to ensure maintenance and project work is delivered safely and on schedule
- Preparing and following Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
- Ensuring work is completed in accordance with relevant health, safety and operational procedures
- Identifying issues on site and making practical decisions to resolve them or escalate where appropriate
- Maintaining accurate records relating to site visits, equipment and completed works
About You
We're looking for someone with genuine hands-on installation, maintenance or field-engineering experience. Your background could be in CCTV, telecommunications, broadband, satellite installation, field IT, IoT, security systems or a similar technical field. Previous ANPR experience would be useful but is not essential. You'll be comfortable working independently and travelling between sites, with the confidence to assess situations and make sensible decisions without needing constant supervision. You should have:
- Previous hands-on installation, maintenance or field-engineering experience
- Strong practical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with or coordinating subcontractors
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Experience following installation plans and site survey documentation
- The ability to produce clear site documentation, such as site maps and installation plans
- Good organisational and communication skills
- The ability to adapt and prioritise when working across multiple sites and changing operational requirements
- Basic knowledge of Risk Assessments and RAMS documentation
- A full, clean UK driving licence
You must also have the right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
Experience with ANPR or CCTV systems would be advantageous, although candidates from other relevant field-engineering and installation backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Any of the following certifications or training would also be beneficial:
- Asbestos Awareness
- Abrasive Wheels Certification
- Working at Height
- Ladder Safety
- Health & Safety Awareness
- C&G 2365 Electrical Installation
- CAT & Genny Training
- IPAF / Powered Access Equipment
These qualifications are desirable rather than essential, so we would still like to hear from candidates with strong practical field-engineering experience who do not currently hold all of them.
What's on Offer
£30,000-£35,000 per annum
Company van
Company pension
Sick pay
On-site parking where applicable
Company events
A varied, mobile role with significant independence and responsibility
The opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of sites and technical equipment
