An established UK-based engineering and manufacturing organisation is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing R&D team based in Witney, Oxfordshire. This is a newly created role due to continued business growth and offers an excellent opportunity to work on innovative products used in global markets.
The Role
Reporting to the R&D Manager, you will work as part of a collaborative engineering team, contributing to both existing and new research and development projects. The role is hands-on and varied, involving product design, testing, and development from concept through to manufacture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design of new products and redesign of existing products
- Building and testing products throughout the design lifecycle
- Recording and reporting test results, including conclusions and next steps
- Producing bills of materials (BOMs)
- Working closely with other engineering team members to ensure project objectives are met
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Engineering degree required (mechanical, electrical, or product design preferred)
- Relevant experience in product development
- R&D engineering experience desirable
- Experience using 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
- Ability to read engineering drawings and carry out product testing
- Strong organisational, communication, and project management skills
- Able to work autonomously and use initiative, with clear and concise reporting
- Flexible, cooperative approach to teamwork
