Our client is looking for an in-house Legal Counsel to provide legal support across their global operations, mitigating legal risks, supporting commercial and privacy matters, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The company is a global leader in vehicle safety systems for commercial vehicles and mobile machinery. The role will report to the Group Legal Counsel & Data Protection Officer (DPO).
Key Responsibilities:
- Legal Advice: Offer practical legal guidance to stakeholders across various jurisdictions.
- Commercial Contracts: Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts including supply, distribution, development, IP, IT, and SaaS agreements.
- Contract Templates: Create and update templates for consistent business use.
- Third-party Liaison: Work closely with external legal advisors, brokers, and consultants.
- Process Improvement: Enhance legal workflows and systems for greater business value.
- Privacy Support: Assist the DPO in data protection compliance, including:
- Drafting and updating privacy documentation and registers.
- Conducting DPIAs, legitimate interest assessments, and managing data breaches.
- Regulatory liaison and subsidiary support.
- Staff awareness and training on privacy and legal topics.
Person Specification:
- UK-qualified solicitor with at least 5 years PQE (in-house or private practice).
- Strong commercial contracts and legal compliance experience.
- Experience in manufacturing or automotive sectors preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, adaptable, and proactive.
- Able to manage multiple priorities and make decisions under pressure.
- Team player with willingness to work beyond standard hours when required.
