An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer to join a newly established Production Engineering team within a high-technology engineering environment. This role focuses on bridging the gap between research & development and manufacturing, ensuring products are successfully transitioned into scalable, robust production. You will play a key role in developing production processes, designing tooling, and driving continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- New Product Introduction (NPI) & Manufacturing Transfer
- Support the transfer of products from development into manufacturing
- Conduct Design for Manufacture/Assembly (DFM/DFA) reviews
- Lead mechanical activities within NPI projects
- Collaborate with design teams to ensure manufacturable solutions
- Production Engineering Development
- Design and develop assembly fixtures, tooling, and test jigs
- Create and maintain build instructions and production documentation
- Establish controlled, repeatable manufacturing processes
- Continuous Improvement & Optimisation
- Improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, and repeatability
- Identify opportunities to reduce build time and production costs
- Implement engineering changes to enhance manufacturability
- Production Support & Problem Solving
- Provide hands-on support for mechanical issues in production
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Support non-conformance investigations and quality improvements
Skills & Experience
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Experience in production, manufacturing, or mechanical design engineering
- Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks or similar)
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods (machining, sheet metal, moulding, assemblies)
