An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer to join a newly established Production Engineering team within a high-technology engineering environment. This role focuses on bridging the gap between research & development and manufacturing, ensuring products are successfully transitioned into scalable, robust production. You will play a key role in developing production processes, designing tooling, and driving continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • New Product Introduction (NPI) & Manufacturing Transfer
    • Support the transfer of products from development into manufacturing
    • Conduct Design for Manufacture/Assembly (DFM/DFA) reviews
    • Lead mechanical activities within NPI projects
    • Collaborate with design teams to ensure manufacturable solutions
  • Production Engineering Development
    • Design and develop assembly fixtures, tooling, and test jigs
    • Create and maintain build instructions and production documentation
    • Establish controlled, repeatable manufacturing processes
  • Continuous Improvement & Optimisation
    • Improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, and repeatability
    • Identify opportunities to reduce build time and production costs
    • Implement engineering changes to enhance manufacturability
  • Production Support & Problem Solving
    • Provide hands-on support for mechanical issues in production
    • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
    • Support non-conformance investigations and quality improvements

Skills & Experience

  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Experience in production, manufacturing, or mechanical design engineering
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks or similar)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods (machining, sheet metal, moulding, assemblies)
