An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Production Manager to join a well-established and growing electronics manufacturing business. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with a strong background in electronics manufacturing who is passionate about operational excellence, continuous improvement, and developing high-performing teams. You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring production operations run safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards, while supporting business growth and customer satisfaction.

The Role

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy electronics manufacturing facility, leading a skilled production team and ensuring production schedules, quality standards, and delivery targets are consistently achieved.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and Sales teams to drive operational performance, optimise manufacturing processes, and support a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operation of the electronics manufacturing facility.
  • Lead, motivate and develop a production team of over 30 shop floor employees.
  • Plan production resources to meet customer demand and delivery schedules.
  • Coordinate SMT and through-hole assembly activities to maximise efficiency.
  • Monitor production performance, quality, and health & safety compliance.
  • Drive improvements across key performance indicators, including productivity, quality, efficiency and on-time delivery.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing performance.
  • Work collaboratively with Purchasing and Stores teams to ensure material availability.
  • Liaise with Sales and other internal departments to manage production priorities and customer requirements.
  • Ensure production processes comply with ISO 9001 quality management standards.
  • Support employee development through training, coaching and performance management.
  • Assist with inventory control, work-in-progress management and finished goods processes.

About You

  • Previous experience managing production within an electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Proven leadership experience within a low- or medium-volume manufacturing operation.
  • A strong understanding of electronic components, PCB assembly processes and manufacturing workflows.
  • Experience of SMT and/or through-hole assembly processes (desirable).
  • A track record of improving manufacturing performance through KPI management and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems.
