A leading global logistics business is looking to appoint a Senior Business Development Manager to drive growth across mid-sized customer accounts. This role focuses on developing new business opportunities, managing an existing portfolio, and leading an inside sales function to deliver sustained revenue and margin growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development & Account Growth
- Develop new business within mid-tier accounts (500–1000 containers per year)
- Manage and grow an existing customer portfolio
- Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships
- Deliver consistent growth against monthly gross margin targets
- Maintain a structured and active pipeline through Salesforce
- Client Management & Delivery
- Act as the key interface between clients and internal teams (operations, finance, IT, overseas offices)
- Ensure customer requirements are clearly defined and supported with agreed processes
- Drive customer satisfaction and continuous improvement plans
- Deliver monthly and quarterly business reviews (MBR/QBR)
- Sales Leadership
- Lead and support the inside sales team
- Ensure timely response to leads, quotes, and customer requests
- Monitor team KPIs and performance against targets
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership
- Commercial & Operational Oversight
- Manage client budgets, revenue, and gross profit targets
- Ensure accurate rate management and updates within CRM systems
- Support finance teams with any commercial or invoicing issues
- Identify and deliver win-win commercial solutions
What You’ll Need
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a B2B sales environment
- Experience managing both new business and existing accounts
- Strong leadership experience, ideally managing inside sales teams
- Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to analyse data and build commercial strategies
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Experience using CRM systems (ideally Salesforce)
