Own the mechanical development of a counter-drone system, taking designs from concept and CAD through to working, tested hardware.
This is a practical engineering role in an early-stage defence technology business. You will design structures, airframes, mechanisms and actuation systems, integrate sensor heads and subsystems, and build the prototypes and test rigs needed to prove your designs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing CAD designs and turning them into physical hardware.
- Carrying out hands‑on fabrication, assembly, testing and fault finding.
- Resolving integration issues across mechanical and electronic interfaces.
- Improving designs through repeated build-and-test cycles.
You will need strong mechanical design and CAD experience, a sound understanding of structures and actuation, and practical workshop experience. You must also be comfortable working with electrical schematics, actuators, power and wiring.
Experience limited to CAD or drawing production will not meet the requirement: you need evidence of personally building and testing what you have designed.
Relevant experience could come from aerospace, defence, motorsport, robotics, UAVs, automotive or another advanced electromechanical environment.
This is an on-site role. Eligibility for UK SC Security Clearance is essential, with the clearance process sponsored by the employer.
