Our client is looking for an in house Legal Counsel to provide legal support across thier global operations, mitigating legal risks, supporting commercial and privacy matters, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
The company are a global leader in vehicle safety systems for commercial vehicles and mobile machinery.
The role with report to the Group Legal Counsel & Data Protection Officer (DPO)
Key Responsibilities
- Legal Advice: Offer practical legal guidance to stakeholders across various jurisdictions.
- Commercial Contracts: Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts including supply, distribution, development, IP, IT, and SaaS agreements.
- Contract Templates: Create and update templates for consistent business use.
- Third-party Liaison: Work closely with external legal advisors, brokers, and consultants.
- Process Improvement: Enhance legal workflows and systems for greater business value.
- Privacy Support: Assist the DPO in data protection compliance, including:
- Drafting and updating privacy documentation and registers.
- Conducting DPIAs, legitimate interest assessments, and managing data breaches.
- Regulatory liaison and subsidiary support.
- Staff awareness and training on privacy and legal topics.
- UK-qualified solicitor with at least 5 years PQE (in-house or private practice).
- Strong commercial contracts and legal compliance experience.
- Experience in manufacturing or automotive sectors preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, adaptable, and proactive.
- Able to manage multiple priorities and make decisions under pressure.
- Team player with willingness to work beyond standard hours when required.
