The Group Quality Engineer is responsible for overseeing quality assurance and compliance across projects to ensure works are delivered in accordance with client specifications, contract requirements, industry standards and the company’s ISO 9001 Management System. Key duties include developing Project Quality Plans, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), carrying out inspections, audits and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), and supporting site teams with quality control processes and documentation.
The role also involves managing QA records and digital systems such as Field View, overseeing nonconformance and corrective action processes, liaising with clients on quality matters, producing progress and board reports, and promoting a right first-time and continual improvement culture throughout the business.
What you will be responsible for?
- Quality Management and Compliance: Develop Project Quality Plans and QA documentation in compliance with client specifications and contract requirements; carry out quality inspections and audits; conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs); produce monthly progress reports for clients; submit a monthly report to Board.
- Inspection & Testing: Develop, implement, and maintain Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs); support site teams with on-site inspections to ensure compliance with specifications; ensure Inspection & Test Checks (ITCs) are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Documentation & Records: Manage the rollout of Field View for digitalised QA records, snagging and defect management; oversee maintenance of QA record keeping, digital or otherwise, as specified by clients; compile project handover documentation for clients.
- Nonconformance: Assist with raising and managing nonconformances and snags; support root cause analysis; monitor corrective actions to close-out.
- Client Engagement: Liaise with the Clients representative for all quality related matters; attend site meetings and offer quality support.
- Continual Improvement: Promote right first-time culture; support lessons learned and KPI reporting; assist with the implementation, maintenance and improvement of the company’s ISO 9001 Management System.
What must you have?
- Experience in quality assurance within engineering.
- Able to interpret construction drawings/specifications.
- Experience in carrying out quality inspections.
- Knowledge of construction, civils or related project environments.
- Understanding of ISO 9001 or similar quality systems.
- Comfortable working on site and building relationships with delivery teams.

- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015.
- Internal auditor qualification.
- Competent use of and able to lead on Viewpoint Field View software, used for QA records, inspections and snagging/defect management.
