This Financial Controller role is a hands‑on position responsible for leading day‑to‑day finance operations, strengthening controls and partnering closely with the business on performance. The role owns month‑end, statutory and group reporting, cash management and budgeting, while also driving process improvement as systems and governance continue to mature. It involves close collaboration with senior stakeholders across sales, operations and supply chain, as well as leadership of a small finance team. The role suits a qualified accountant with strong technical grounding, experience in evolving or transitional environments, and a practical, solution‑focused mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Own month‑end, year‑end and statutory reporting, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS and group standards.
- Manage core finance operations including AP, AR, treasury, payroll interface, balance‑sheet reconciliations and cash flow.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and financial performance reporting for senior stakeholders.
- Act as a finance business partner to operational leaders, supporting pricing, margins and decision‑making.
- Drive process improvement, internal controls and governance as systems and structures mature.
- Lead audit coordination (internal and external) and act as primary contact for auditors and HMRC matters.
- Oversee and develop the finance team, promoting accountability, capability growth and collaboration.
- Lead ERP improvement and implementation activity, including transition to Sage 200 and enhanced reporting tools.
Key Skills & Experience
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) with 7+ years PQE.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP/IFRS, reporting, cash management and controls.
- Proven proficiency with Sage200; strong Excel and reporting/BI skills.
- Proven experience owning month‑end, statutory reporting and audits in a hands‑on role.
- Track record of improving finance processes and partnering with non‑finance stakeholders.
- Confident communicator, analytical, detail‑focused and comfortable in evolving environments.
