An established and highly respected advanced manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to take ownership of electrical compliance and engineering activities across its site. This is a key role within the business, responsible for ensuring all electrical systems are safe, compliant, and capable of supporting both current operations and future growth. The successful candidate will act as the site's electrical technical authority, providing leadership, compliance oversight and project delivery expertise within a live industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full responsibility for electrical compliance across the site, ensuring all statutory and regulatory requirements are met
- Manage and maintain the Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) programme
- Oversee electrical inspection and testing activities to ensure work meets required standards
- Plan, prioritise and manage remedial electrical works
- Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentoring to site electricians
- Manage and supervise external electrical contractors
- Lead electrical projects, upgrades and improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate compliance documentation and records
- Enforce health and safety standards and safe systems of work
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience within a commercial or industrial electrical environment
- Strong background in inspection and testing, including EICRs
- Experience delivering electrical projects in a live manufacturing or industrial setting
- Thorough working knowledge of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and practical on-site application
- Ability to read and interpret detailed electrical circuit diagrams
- Experience managing contractors and coordinating works safely and effectively
- Previous supervisory, senior electrician or lead engineering experience desirable
- Methodical and detail-oriented approach to compliance and documentation
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently across all levels
- Proactive, organised and capable of prioritising workload effectively
- Calm and professional under pressure
- Confident decision-maker with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
- Ability to mentor and develop others, sharing best practice and technical knowledge
Qualifications
- Essential: Recognised electrical qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
- City & Guilds 2391-52 (or equivalent) - Inspection & Testing
- Current BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) certification
- Desirable: HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Membership of a relevant professional body
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent health & safety qualification
