About the Role
My client (A specialist Horizontal Directional Drilling, Civil Engineering & Pipeline Specialist) are seeking an experienced and proactive Health and Safety Manager to join their team on a live project in Redcar, Yorkshire. The successful candidate will provide expert advice across safety, environmental and quality management, ensuring projects meet legislative requirements and internal standards. You'll be based onsite.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide full–time on–site health & safety management throughout the project duration
- Monitor and enforce compliance with UK HSE legislation, CDM regulations and client procedures
- Review and approve RAMS, lift plans and safe systems of work specific to HDD, excavation and pipeline activities
- Conduct daily site inspections, audits and safety tours – ensuring corrective actions are closed out
- Lead incident investigations and produce clear reports with lessons learned
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and inductions for site personnel and visitors
- Support project management in planning safe work methods and mitigating risk
- Maintain accurate HSE records, statistics and compliance documentation
- Promote a positive safety culture and continuous improvement across the project
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience as a Health & Safety Manager or Senior HSE Advisor on civil engineering, utilities, pipeline or trenchless/HDD projects
- Strong knowledge of UK construction health & safety legislation and CDM requirements
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate or Diploma (or equivalent)
- Relevant CSCS card
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong site presence with a proactive, practical approach to safety management
Desirable
- Previous experience on HDD or trenchless technology projects
- Environmental or quality management training/qualifications
- Experience working on large, single–site infrastructure or energy projects
