Overview

Flight Data Intelligence, a leading provider of aviation data solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and customer-oriented IT Manager to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth delivery of our customer-facing web applications and services, with a focus on maintaining high availability, security, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with exceptional communication skills and the ability to balance strategic overview with attention to detail to address objectives and challenges effectively.

Responsibilities Will Include

  • Customer Web Application Management: Oversee the hosting and operation of customer-facing web applications, ensuring 99.99% availability and optimal performance.
  • Cloud Infrastructure Management: Architect and manage cloud environments, particularly AWS, to support scalable and secure application hosting and finops.
  • Kubernetes and DevOps: Leverage Kubernetes and DevOps practices to streamline deployment processes, enhance system reliability, and automate key workflows.
  • Application Security: Implement best practices in application security to safeguard sensitive customer data and maintain compliance with industry standards.
  • Customer Engagement: Collaborate with customers on Requests for Proposals (RFPs), providing technical insights and ensuring alignment with their business needs.
  • Incident Management: Act as the primary point of contact for customer incident resolution, driving prompt and effective solutions to maintain trust and satisfaction.
  • Change Management: Navigate and enforce structured change management processes to ensure seamless updates and minimize disruptions to customer services.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including engineering, sales, and product management, to align technical solutions with customer expectations.
  • Data Governance: responsible for developing and implementing data governance frameworks, retention policies, classification schemas, documentation standards and fostering a culture of data stewardship

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in hosting and managing customer-facing web applications with high availability requirements (99.99%).
  • Strong knowledge of SaaS and hands-on experience with both datacentres and AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Expertise in Kubernetes, including deployment orchestration and container management.
  • In-depth understanding of DevOps methodologies and tools.
  • Solid background in application security, including threat mitigation and compliance practices.
  • Experience responding to customer RFPs, providing compelling and technically sound proposals.
  • Adept at managing customer incidents with a focus on timely resolution and communication.
  • Proficiency in navigating and adhering to structured, process-oriented change management methodologies.

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills to effectively interface with customers and internal teams
  • Proven experience managing and developing teams
  • Experience in the aviation or data services industry is a plus
  • Certification in relevant areas such as AWS, Kubernetes, or ITIL
  • Proficient in Linux
