The Opportunity

Due to continued growth, Acrisure's Specialist Schemes Division in Lutterworth is looking for an ambitious and commercially driven Commercial New Business Executive to join our team. This is a pure new business role for someone who enjoys speaking with prospective clients, developing opportunities and winning business. You'll be joining an established specialist team providing insurance solutions to businesses across sectors including engineering, manufacturing, steel, construction, working at height, lifts and escalators, timber and joinery, and packaging. You won't be starting with an empty pipeline; you'll receive approximately 250 leads and opportunities each month of varying warmth. These will include businesses we've never previously quoted, previous prospects and lapsed clients, giving you a substantial base of opportunities to work from. You'll also be encouraged to create your own opportunities through LinkedIn, telephone prospecting, referrals, networking and proactive research.

Your focus is simple:

  • Create opportunities.
  • Have quality conversations.
  • Win new clients.
  • Repeat.

What You'll Be Doing

Developing & Winning New Business

You'll take ownership of new business opportunities from initial contact through to conversion. That will include:

  • Working approximately 250 supplied leads and opportunities each month across varying stages and levels of warmth.
  • Re-engaging previous prospects and lapsed clients.
  • Contacting businesses we've identified but haven't previously quoted.
  • Proactively identifying and researching new prospects within our specialist sectors.
  • Using telephone prospecting to create conversations with business owners and decision-makers.
  • Using LinkedIn to research prospects, build relationships, create visibility and generate new enquiries.
  • Using email and other digital channels as part of a structured prospecting approach.
  • Conducting prospect meetings and presentations through Microsoft Teams.
  • Building and maintaining a strong pipeline of quality opportunities.
  • Following up consistently and professionally until there's a clear outcome.
  • Understanding the prospect's business, risks and insurance requirements.
  • Working with our internal broking and placement teams to develop the right insurance solution.
  • Presenting terms, overcoming objections and asking for the business.
  • Achieving and exceeding agreed new business targets.

You Sell. Our Team Services.

We've deliberately structured the role so that our Commercial New Business Executives can concentrate on winning new business. Once you've successfully brought a client on board, the ongoing servicing of that account is handled by our dedicated teams. You won't be responsible for:

  • Day-to-day account servicing.
  • Mid-term adjustments.
  • Managing the client's annual renewal.
  • Handling claims.

You'll remain an important relationship within the business and will have the opportunity to identify additional needs, but your primary focus remains winning new clients rather than servicing an existing book.

Cross-Selling Across Acrisure

Winning the initial client is only one part of the opportunity. As you get to understand a prospect's business, you'll be encouraged to identify where they may benefit from other expertise available through the wider Acrisure business. Where appropriate, you'll introduce and refer clients to our Acrisure partners, giving them access to additional specialist services while creating further opportunities across the group. You'll also build relationships with colleagues across Acrisure to encourage reciprocal referrals and generate additional opportunities for our Specialist Schemes Division.

How You'll Develop Business

This is an office-based role in Lutterworth five days per week. Rather than spending large amounts of time travelling to client meetings, we want our New Business Executives focused on conversations, opportunities and selling. You'll use a combination of:

  • Telephone – opening conversations, qualifying opportunities and progressing prospects.
  • Microsoft Teams – conducting virtual client meetings and presentations.
  • LinkedIn – researching prospects, building connections and generating enquiries.
  • Email – supporting conversations and maintaining contact.
  • Supplied leads – actively working the approximately 250 monthly opportunities provided.
  • Self-generated prospecting – identifying businesses and opportunities beyond those already supplied.
  • Referrals – developing opportunities from clients, contacts and the wider Acrisure business.

We want someone who is comfortable using all of these channels rather than relying on one source of business.

What We're Looking For

You'll ideally already have experience within commercial insurance in a role such as:

  • Commercial New Business Executive
  • Commercial Account Executive
  • Development Executive
  • Business Development Executive
  • Commercial Broker with strong business development experience

Technical insurance knowledge matters, but your attitude towards new business matters just as much. We're looking for someone who:

  • Has a genuine new business mentality.
  • Enjoys picking up the phone and starting conversations.
  • Is comfortable dealing with both warm opportunities and colder prospects.
  • Can turn a large volume of leads into a properly managed sales pipeline.
  • Has the discipline to consistently follow up opportunities.
  • Is confident talking to business owners, directors and decision-makers.
  • Is comfortable conducting client meetings through Microsoft Teams.
  • Understands how LinkedIn can be used as a genuine business development tool.
  • Isn't solely reliant on supplied leads and is prepared to find opportunities themselves.
  • Can build rapport and credibility quickly.
  • Is resilient and comfortable hearing "no".
  • Is commercially minded and confident asking for the business.
  • Is motivated by targets and the opportunity to increase earnings through performance.
  • Works well as part of a wider broking and sales team.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Commercial insurance experience.
  • Good understanding of commercial insurance products and insurer markets.
  • Strong telephone and communication skills.
  • Demonstrable ability to build relationships with commercial clients and prospects.
  • Strong organisation and pipeline management.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to achieve and exceed targets.
  • Comfortable working in an office-based sales environment five days per week.

Desirable

  • Proven track record of winning commercial insurance business.
  • Experience in telephone-led new business development.
  • Experience using LinkedIn for prospecting and business development.
  • Cert CII qualification or willingness to work towards professional qualifications.
  • Experience within engineering, manufacturing, construction or other technically complex commercial risks.

Why Join Us?

Our Lutterworth operation is Acrisure's Specialist Schemes Division, with established propositions including EngSure, SteelSure, TimberSure, HeightSure, LiftSure and PackageSure. You'll have established specialist propositions to take to market, an experienced insurance team behind you and approximately 250 supplied opportunities each month to work alongside the business you generate yourself. And once you've won a client, you aren't pulled away from selling to spend your time processing MTAs, administering renewals or dealing with claims. You win the business. Our wider team looks after it. You get back to winning. For someone who genuinely enjoys new business, wants to build a successful sales career within commercial insurance and wants their earnings to reflect what they achieve, this is a significant opportunity within a growing part of Acrisure.
