About the team and the role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Commercial Claims Handler to join our claims team. The successful candidate will manage and process a range of commercial insurance claims, ensuring prompt, fair, and efficient resolution in line with policy terms, regulatory requirements, and internal service standards.

How you'll contribute:

  • Handle a portfolio of commercial claims, including property, liability, business interruption, and other commercial lines.
  • Investigate, assess, and validate claims through effective communication with policyholders, brokers, loss adjusters, and other third parties.
  • Review and interpret insurance policies to determine coverage and liability.
  • Negotiate settlements within designated authority levels and escalate complex cases when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on claims management systems.
  • Provide excellent customer service by guiding clients through the claims process with empathy and professionalism.
  • Liaise with legal teams and other experts to manage contentious or high-value claims.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and company standards.
  • Identify potential fraud and refer cases for further investigation as appropriate.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the claims department.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in handling commercial insurance claims.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products and claims processes.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple claims and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and claims management systems.

Preferred:

  • Insurance qualifications (e.g., Cert CII, Dip CII) or working towards them.
  • Experience with high-value or complex commercial claims.
  • Knowledge of FCA and other regulatory frameworks.
