Acre is rebuilding the UK’s £1.4 trillion mortgage market from the ground up, with a completely new, end-to-end management system for mortgages. Our platform cuts out the unnecessary admin, pain and friction from buying a home. We're covering the entire journey, from figuring out what you can borrow, to getting your keys. We're guided both by the voice of real home buyers and by our close relationships with brokers, lenders and insurers. Over the past year, mortgage submissions through our platform have grown by 200%, a clear sign that we're helping mortgage businesses scale faster and smarter. As we continue to grow, we're looking for ambitious people to join us in transforming the industry and shaping the future of home buying.

The role: We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer that wants to help ensure our platform for homebuying is always available and secure. Your role will be to work closely with the broader team to help ensure our CI pipelines are smooth, efficient, and ensure quality; our production environment is performant, stable and secure; and we have an exceptional degree of insight and transparency into our operational environment. Your approach to the role should be that no task is done twice.

What you’ll be doing: As a key member of the engineering team you will be responsible for the implementation and testing of non-functional aspects of our platform such as security, performance and scaling that delivers our product to users, keeps it secure and helps us understand its performance in the real world. You will be involved in our full software development life cycle; you will be expected to quickly switch between tasks and work with the frontend and backend engineering teams to ensure they are able to efficiently deliver software while meeting our software quality and security benchmarks.

Who you will be:

  • Passionate about software engineering and about delivering a quality product.
  • Curious about new and evolving technologies.
  • Enjoys tinkering with systems and networks.
  • Experienced in containerisation, orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code using tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
  • A strong advocate for information security principles, particularly around environment hardening and secure system design.
  • Skilled in implementing monitoring and logging solutions to support security, operational reliability, and application performance.
  • Well-versed in CI/CD practices and modern software delivery pipelines.
  • Proficient in at least one programming or scripting language for automation and tooling.
  • Backed by 2+ years of relevant industry experience in DevOps, SRE, cloud infrastructure, or related field.

What we offer:

  • A chance to make an impact within a high growth Fintech start-up.
  • Monthly team social events, from trips to Brighton to Picnics in the park.
  • One week of free accommodation for those relocating.
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Opportunity to earn equity through our EMI option scheme.
  • Company laptop and supporting tech.
  • Private healthcare and a cash plan.
  • Pension contribution matched by Acre up to 4%.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Breakfast, snacks and drinks provided in our vibrant Shoreditch office.

We’re looking for people that will get stuck in and make a difference. We have a great collaborative, entrepreneurial team that are passionate about what they do. If you want to join a team that is tackling a big problem space, then we’d love to hear from you. We’re eager to receive applications from all backgrounds, including from people of colour, the LGBTQ+ community, people with disabilities, neurodivergent people, parents, carers, and people from lower socio-economic backgrounds. If there’s anything we can do to accommodate your specific situation, please let us know.
