About the Role
ACR Recruitment Training Ltd is delighted to be supporting a high-quality early years setting in the recruitment of a confident and dedicated Room Leader / Supervisor. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced childcare professional to take a leadership role within a supportive nursery environment. You will lead by example, ensuring the highest standards of care, education, safeguarding, and team performance, while creating a nurturing, stimulating space where children can learn, develop, and thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a positive role model to children and colleagues at all times.
- Implement and maintain daily routines within the room.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging educational programmes in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
- Take responsibility as a Key Person for a group of children, building strong relationships with parents and carers and supporting each child’s individual development.
- Prepare age-appropriate activities tailored to children’s developmental stages and learning needs.
- Observe, assess, and record children’s progress, identifying any concerns and reporting these to the SENCO or Management Team as required.
- Support children’s health, welfare, and emotional well-being at all times.
- Maintain a high-quality learning environment with stimulating displays, safe resources, and a clean, hazard-free setting.
- Work in collaboration with the SENCO and external agencies to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) where required.
- Ensure professional, thorough handovers with parents and carers at drop-off and collection times.
Health & Safety
- Attend to, record, and report all minor accidents and incidents in line with nursery policies and procedures.
- Respond appropriately to children who become unwell and ensure accurate documentation is completed.
- Carry out regular health and safety checks and risk assessments.
- Report damaged equipment or safety concerns immediately to senior staff.
- Ensure full compliance with safeguarding, health safety, and nursery policies at all times.
Leadership Operational Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and support staff within your room on a daily basis.
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure high standards of practice across the team.
- Support the opening and closing of the nursery, ensuring security procedures are followed.
- Maintain accurate records for children, staff, and visitors.
- Ensure children are collected safely and in line with nursery collection policies.
- Liaise with the Nursery Manager, SENCO, and external professionals as required.
- Support students and apprentices with training and development.
- Contribute to achieving and maintaining a minimum Good Ofsted rating.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, parents evenings, and nursery events.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Support wider nursery operations, including practical and domestic duties when required.
Professional Development
- Reflect on personal practice and identify areas for development.
- Engage in ongoing training and professional learning.
- Stay up to date with EYFS guidance, safeguarding updates, and nursery policies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement across the room and wider setting.
What We’re Looking For
- Level 3 or above Early Years qualification (UK recognised essential).
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Sound knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding, and child development.
- Experience working in a supervisory or senior practitioner role (desirable).
- A warm, professional, and confident approach.
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
