About Us
We build machines that move matter using sound waves. AcoustoFab is pioneering the next generation of contactless automation through acoustic levitation technology. Our systems use programmable ultrasonic fields to manipulate delicate materials without physical contact, enabling new approaches to precision handling, inspection, sorting, and manufacturing. Our technology is already deployed globally through our Alchema Research platform, supporting customers in life sciences and advanced research environments. We are now expanding our scope to include a programme focused on scaling and commercialising contactless pick–inspect–place robotics for agricultural, pharma, and advanced manufacturing applications. As an early-stage deep tech company, we combine acoustics, robotics, software, machine vision, and product engineering to create entirely new classes of automation systems.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Computational Scientist to develop the mathematical models, optimisation algorithms, and scientific software that underpin AcoustoFab's next generation of acoustic manipulation technologies. Working at the intersection of physics, mathematics, and software engineering, you will develop numerical models that simulate acoustic field generation and particle behaviour, create optimisation and control algorithms, and build high-performance scientific software that enables new product capabilities. You will work closely with Product Development, Software Engineering, and R&D teams to translate theoretical advances into robust commercial systems. This role combines computational modelling, algorithm development, software engineering, and experimental validation. You will contribute across the full development lifecycle, from developing new mathematical models and solver technologies through to validating them experimentally and integrating them into commercial products. The role is approximately 40% computational modelling and algorithm development, 40% scientific software development and integration, and 20% experimental validation and research. This is an excellent opportunity for a computational scientist or physicist who enjoys solving challenging multidisciplinary problems, developing novel algorithms, and helping translate cutting-edge research into real-world industrial technology.
