Acorns Children's Hospice are looking for a Children's Palliative Community Clinical Lead to join the team in our Three Counties Hospice, Worcester. The Community Clinical Lead will manage a multi-disciplinary team, develop programmes of care and provide nursing care to children and young people with a range of complex health needs, life limiting or life‑threatening conditions in the community.

As Children’s Palliative Community Clinical Lead, you will:

  • Manage and be responsible for the supervision and development of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrate expertise in symptom management and end of life care including after death care, to support staff to develop skills
  • Holistically assess the situation and needs of children with life limiting conditions inclusive of family needs and demonstrate specialist clinical knowledge for the delivery of high‑quality patient care
  • Work collaboratively with initiating, planning and facilitating multi-disciplinary discharge and care planning meetings
  • Advocate for children and their families with other professionals for access to services regarding end of life plans/symptom control promoting the child and family’s points of view
  • Provide health education information to the child and family, to promote a healthy lifestyle and where appropriate address public health issues

About You

  • Registered Nurse
  • Non‑medical prescriber (or willing to undertake)
  • Experience of palliative care
  • Ability to demonstrate a sound understanding of clinical skills to include IV therapy, patient assessment skills, airway management and to develop further skills as required

Interviews are scheduled to be held on 10 July. You need to be eligible to work in the UK to be considered for this role. We are committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and therefore any successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check for children and will be asked to provide two satisfactory references. In addition, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of immunisation against specific diseases or confirm their willingness to receive the necessary vaccinations.
