Acorns Children’s Hospice is seeking an Administrator to support the Volunteer Hospice Team on a temporary 6‑month contract.
About the Role
At Acorns Children’s Hospice we offer specialist palliative care and support for children and their families across the West Midlands. We are there wherever and whenever they need us, in the hospice, community and at home. Our aim at Acorns is to help families feel equipped to cope at every stage of their child’s life with dedicated teams offering psychological, emotional and practical support.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the volunteering Hospice teams, including making phone calls and sending emails and messages to volunteers.
- Organise meetings and training, including booking rooms, working with other staff teams, contacting volunteers with agendas and information and ensuring paperwork is completed.
- Maintain records and systems within our Volunteering Management System, Assemble.
- Work with the recruitment team to check applicants and complete initial screening.
- Support Hospice Volunteer Coordinators with the recruitment process documentation, ensuring all volunteers have completed the right paperwork and monitor completion of forms and DBS checks.
About You
- Experience of working in an admin environment is beneficial.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Self-driven, innovative and forward thinking.

Interviews are scheduled to take place on 27th July. You need to be eligible to work in the UK to be considered for this role. We are committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and therefore any successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check for children and will be asked to provide two satisfactory references. In addition, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of immunisation against specific diseases or confirm their willingness to receive the necessary vaccinations.
