Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for a Health & Safety Manager to join a manufacturer based in Widnes, Cheshire. This is a stand-alone role responsible for advising on and ensuring compliance with current Health, Safety and Environment legislation. The successful candidate will take ownership of site HSE procedures, systems, and policies while driving continuous improvement initiatives across the business.

Key Duties

  • Maintain and report all HSE statistics in monthly meetings.
  • Maintain hazard spotting, internal audit, accident reporting systems, and Workgroup meetings.
  • Develop and implement HSE policies and procedures in line with current legislation.
  • Monitor current HSE performance and drive strategic continuous improvement plans.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HSE legislation and advise management and staff accordingly.
  • Ensure the organisation's HSE strategy is implemented effectively and within agreed budgets.
  • Ensure effective record keeping for integrated safe systems of work.
  • Maintain safe systems of work for contractors and visitors.
  • Ensure risk assessments are identified and completed satisfactorily.
  • Ensure PPE meets correct requirements depending on usage.
  • Investigate accidents and liaise with internal and external stakeholders where required.

Requirements

  • NEBOSH qualification essential.
  • Proven track record in HSE improvement within a similar role.
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to lead change and continuous improvement.
  • Experience within the food industry desirable.
