We are recruiting a Motor Claims Handler to join the Fleet and Specialist product team. This role involves pro‐actively managing a portfolio of Fleet and Specialist motor claims covering Accidental Damage, Property Damage, Credit Hire and Third‐party Personal Injury claims, from initial intake through settlement, and providing exceptional service to Fleet customers.
Location: Liverpool or Sevenoaks (hybrid working)
Working hours: Monday to Friday 9:00 am – 5:30 pm, 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £28,747 – £38,160 (DOE) plus £2,000 annual bonus potential, achieved quarterly
Responsibilities:
- Validate all claims for indemnity and fraud.
- Assess liability and communicate decisions.
- Contact potential claimants or representatives in a timely manner to establish exposure for all claims heads and keep claim files updated.
- Conduct accurate quantum assessment of presented claims using available tools.
- Identify cases where intervening on vehicle losses can reduce overall exposure, using specialist in‐house motor engineers.
- Minimise indemnity spend through commercial decision making.
- Maintain proactive diary management to monitor and progress cases.
- Apply investigative techniques to ensure accurate reserves in line with company guidelines.
- Account for personal performance against set objectives.
- Adhere to best practice and key strategies.
- Manage files and portfolio effectively.
- Assist in coaching and mentoring less experienced handlers.
- Handle ad‐hoc tasks as business needs dictate.
Qualifications:
- Persuasive, confident communicator with strong relationship‐management skills.
- Self‐starter able to use initiative to explore all options for the best business outcome.
- Team‐player able to work within a culture of openness, trust and respect.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
- Analytical ability to fact‐find and analyse information for accurate decision making.
- Significant experience with PI and/or credit hire claims, commercial market awareness, and extensive knowledge of the Pre‐Action Protocol, Civil Procedure Rules, and hourly rate costs.
- Experience handling injury claims outside the Low‐Value Personal Injury claims portal.
