Join our growing AI Squad and help us build the future of insurance! We're looking for talented and motivated AI Engineers to contribute to exciting projects that leverage cutting‐edge technologies. Acorn Insurance is a dynamic company embracing Artificial Intelligence to transform our business. As an AI Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining AI solutions that drive efficiency, improve customer experience, and unlock new opportunities.

Location: Liverpool City Centre (Hybrid working)

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of AI models and algorithms, potentially tackling more complex use cases as your expertise grows.
  • Work closely with AI Analysts and other engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Utilise tools like n8n, Azure (AKS, Storage, Postgres), OpenWebUI, and AI Foundry to build and deploy AI‐powered workflows.
  • Maintain and improve existing AI infrastructure and applications.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to AI solutions.
  • Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing within the team.

Qualifications:

  • A solid understanding of AI/ML concepts, algorithms, and techniques.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python/Javascript.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure (preferred) or AWS.
  • Experience with containerisation technologies like Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of version control systems like Git.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Strong problem‐solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ideally, some experience within the insurance industry.

Desirable but not required:

  • Experience with n8n or similar workflow automation tools.
  • Knowledge of data engineering principles and practices.
  • Understanding of insurance fraud and counter‐fraud tools.
  • Experience with motor or personal lines fraud patterns (e.g., staged accidents, claims farming, ghost broking, fronting).
  • Familiarity with fraud analytics or rules engines (e.g., using ML models, anomaly detection, or scoring to flag suspicious claims, policies, or quotes).
  • Experience integrating with fraud detection services or internal counter‐fraud teams.
  • Understanding of UK regulatory and ethical considerations around fraud detection (FCA, data protection, fairness, bias).
