Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for a Development Engineer to join a well-established metal manufacturing company in the South Wales Valleys. Due to continued growth and a strong order book, this is an excellent opportunity to join a business with over 30 years of industry experience.
Key Duties
- Manage new parts from design or customer drawing stage through to production release.
- Conduct feasibility assessments and identify manufacturability concerns.
- Define materials, tooling, jigs, fixtures, and process steps.
- Produce and maintain drawings, BOMs, specifications, and technical records.
- Design or support the creation of jigs, fixtures, templates, and tooling.
- Validate tooling through trials and revise where required.
- Produce all engineering documentation required for production.
- Review customer drawings and specifications for accuracy and compliance.
- Conduct or support first-off manufacturing trials.
- Produce ISIR and FAIR documentation.
- Support production launch and engineering changes.
- Investigate engineering and design issues and recommend improvements.
Requirements
- Experience within a Development, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering role.
- Good to excellent CAD skills, ideally using SolidWorks.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Experience producing engineering documentation.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Shop floor machinery knowledge desirable.
