Are you looking for an exciting opportunity in the insurance industry? We are currently recruiting for an underwriter to join our team! As an underwriter, your main mission will be to provide exceptional support to our clients and agents, ensuring the conversion of new business. This will also include servicing existing accounts and meeting retention targets. Communication is key in this role as you will be dealing with enquiries via email, telephone, virtually and on occasions face‑to‑face. You will also be expected to carry out any additional tasks instructed by your Head of department.
What you’ll be doing:
- Respond to enquiries from clients and agents in a courteous and helpful manner, ensuring that all information required is obtained and communicated.
- Responsible for rating of new business and renewal risks working within parameters set out by Haven.
- Assess Motor Trade risks and negotiate rates and terms within authority to secure profitable business.
- Ensure that all quotation logs and folders are kept accurate and up to date.
- Confidentiality assisting other team members when required.
- Keep the department working environment safe and ensure all health and safety procedures are adhered to and any issues are reported to your head of department.
- Ensure compliance with FCA regulations as laid down and notified by the company, referring case outside authority promptly with clear rationale and recommendations.
What we’re looking for:
- Competent in all Microsoft tools with emphasis on Excel (formulas, pivot tables).
- Confident on the phone and dealing with queries.
- Always providing excellent customer service when speaking to clients and agents, always upholding the company values.
- Positive outlook and able to deal with challenges calmly.
- You must have at least 6 months continuous employment within Acorn Insurance/Granite.
- You must not have any live warning, written or verbal, on file within the last 6 months.
- All other standard housekeeping requirements are expected such as good time keeping and attendance record.
