An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced General Practitioner to join our team! Acorn Group Practice is a well-established practice with a great team spirit. Our Practice is located in Twickenham and has a patient population of just over 8,000 patients. We are looking to recruit a part-time salaried GP to join our existing team. Although the role is initially part-time, there may be scope to increase this in the near future. The ideal candidate would be a GP Trainer as we are a very dynamic, evolving and supportive training practice.

Main duties of the job:

  • Undertaking surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems.
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Developing care plans for health and providing health education to patients.
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
  • Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
  • Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.

The candidate will need to deliver an excellent standard of care whilst complying with the GMS contract. Alongside this, the candidate will adhere to the GMC standards for safe and good medical practice. It is important that the candidate feels they will be able to contribute to the effectiveness of the Practice through leading by example, staying positive and building great working relationships with the team and wider health professionals.

About us:

At Acorn Group Practice we have a fantastic clinical and administration team! The clinical team consists of: 2 GP Partners, 3 Salaried GPs, 1 ANP, 1 PA, 1 Practice Nurse, 1 HCA and 2 Clinical Pharmacists. There are also PCN established Social Prescribers and a Mental Health clinician. The admin team consists of care coordinators and admin/reception staff who are all well trained to support both patients and clinicians alike. The Practice uses EMIS, DOCMAN and AccuRx as our clinical systems. We are part of South West London ICB.

Job responsibilities:

In general, the candidate will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with working within Primary Care as a General Practitioner:

  • Patient Consultations both face to face and telephone.
  • Support with the triage appointment system.
  • Making decisions relating to patient care.
  • Making the appropriate referrals where necessary.
  • Undertake prescriptions requests.
  • Liaising with the admin team.
  • Participate in staff and clinical meetings.

Person Specification:

Experience: Previous experience of working within a GP Practice within Primary Care.

Qualifications:

  • To hold a degree in medicine that is recognised by the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Have completed a two-year foundation course in general training. This will give you practical experience of the job.
  • To complete specialist training in general medical practice.
  • Complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check: This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
