The purpose of the Senior Arboricultural Consultant is to deliver the full range of arboricultural services to our customer base and support the Consultancy Manager in service delivery for all Consultancy / Tree Surveying Operations within the UK. This role will include working for the Consultancy Manager and alongside the Operations Manager, Tree Surveyors, Field Officers and with the Central Support Functions including Business Development, Administration, HSEQ Compliance department and AEMG’s HR Advisors and Insurers.

The purpose of this role is to manage and deliver consultancy services to our clients meeting the contract requirements and within all local and national legislation. The Senior Arboricultural Consultant will have financial responsibility for his / her contracts, overseen by the Consultancy Manager, and ensure that the projects meet their individual objectives and contract-specific objectives; this may include mobilising and managing teams of arboricultural surveyors for large-scale contracts. A close working relationship with HSEQ Compliance will ensure that frequent audits and Compliance checks are completed and where necessary process revisions are produced. This role also ensures that our Consultancy services are delivered and satisfy the requirements of the AEMG ISO accreditations ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001. A key part of the role is to ensure all Operations are delivered within our Compliance frameworks and exceed our customer’s expectations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Financial responsibility for all relevant contracts, overseen by the Consultancy Manager.
  • Develop quality, environmental and safety inspections/audits to ensure the services AEMG deliver are compliant across each client.
  • Based on inspection/audit results provide necessary feedback to ensure the appropriate process changes are agreed upon with all stakeholders including account/function timescales for remedial action to be implemented.
  • Keep abreast of market conditions generally and within the specialist area of expertise and inform and generate newsletters and briefing documents on forthcoming legislation and the potential impact both to AEMG and our clients.
  • Provide guidance when required to our clients and internal staff.

Client Focus

  • Act as the senior consultant for ensuring that operational activity accords with AEMG’s Policies and procedures, in support of the Consultancy Manager.
  • Undertake contract reviews and meetings with Customers and key stakeholders allocated to the senior consultant (both internal and external: e.g., Auditors/Inspectors) on a regular basis to update on progress and discuss relevant issues.

Team

  • The role understands AEMG people are a key market differentiator and is genuinely committed to the development of direct reports in accordance with AEMG’s Learning & Development Policy.
  • Where necessary develop business cases for the development of the Operations to ensure that team size and structure is adequate for the responsibilities of this function.

Specialist / Technical Expertise

  • Support the Consultancy Manager across all functions to ensure best practice manuals are kept up to date with relevant information.
  • Attend seminars and build up knowledge on future changes to legislation that will affect operational processes and disseminate knowledge appropriately including contribution to training sessions.

Winning Business

  • Liaise with Business Development and Bid teams to support the bidding process and develop AEMG’s Service Delivery Proposals.
  • Undertake direct business development operations seeking out new clients and promoting our business with existing clients.

Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge

  • Working understanding of relevant legislation within the UK.
  • Ability to take complex documents and convert into simple operational processes.
  • Excellent knowledge & use of Microsoft Office Software Systems.
  • Strong understanding of Arboricultural Asset data capture software systems and hardware.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate potential risks to AEMG’s services / Customers.
  • Desire and passion to deliver services to an excellent standard.
  • Experience of working in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience of financial control, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Experience of leading a team with a proven ability to function quickly and efficiently within a demanding environment.

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree calibre or commensurate experience.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Any formal Industry / managerial related qualifications highly desirable. (HND, BA Hons, BSc, MSC)

  • Ensure they meet the needs of both internal and external stakeholders in relation to Compliance.
  • Understands the customer’s objectives and develops strategies and plans to ensure these are met.
  • Act as the senior consultant in support of the Consultancy Manager for ensuring that operational activity accords with AEMG’s Policies & procedures.
  • Identifies client issues and requirements as opportunities for Business Development & Growth.

The role will be based at our Redditch office and will work closely with our existing Consultancy Manager/Principal Consultant and Arboricultural surveyors.

Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 plus use of company vehicle, 22 days annual leave plus statutory days.
