Clarendon Academy is looking for a personable and dedicated Teaching Assistant to work within our Enhanced (Link) Provision, with effect from March 2026. The role will involve working with our behaviour and inclusion team to support students with complex needs, including those requiring SEN and behaviour support. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with young people who have learning gaps and who need to build confidence and resilience.

Working Hours: Part time (30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 38 weeks per year, includes Teacher Training Days). Required: March 2026.

Clarendon Academy is a thriving co-educational, non-denominational secondary school and sixth form, educating young people between the ages of 11 and 18. Located in the bustling town of Trowbridge, Wiltshire, we pride ourselves on being a centre of excellence where young, enthusiastic children enter in Year 7 and leave us at the end of Year 13 as fully rounded young adults. The successful candidate must be willing to work with students of all abilities and profiles across years 7-11, and be prepared to work flexibly to support students with complex needs, including those with SEN and those who struggle with behaviour that require consistency and kindness. Responsibilities include providing classroom / small group intervention support, meeting students’ emotional and social needs and liaising with teaching, support and SENCO staff in the development and delivery of an adaptive curriculum.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has at least a Grade 4 (previously Grade C) in English and Maths;
  • Has a passion for delivering high quality and exciting opportunities for children and supporting them in their development;
  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work with a variety of pupils, staff and parents;
  • Enjoys working with young people and can develop good working relationships with them;
  • Is self-motivated, dedicated and consistent;
  • Has the ability to deal with new challenging situations;
  • Has a positive, resilient and empathetic attitude;
  • Is a strong team player who can use their own initiative;
  • Understands and is sympathetic to the needs of young people, including their social, emotional and mental wellbeing;
  • Has experience of supporting students’ learning and/or is willing to undertake training in this area;
  • Has a current First Aid or is prepared to undertake training;
  • Has experience working with young people with SEND/behaviour needs and/or is willing to undertake training to support young people with such needs.
