Location: Wetheringsett Manor, Suffolk, IP14 5QX

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Mon‑Fri 8:15am–3:45pm)

Salary: Up to £25,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

About the Role

Wetheringsett Manor School values safe, welcoming and well‑maintained environments. This role is a facilities & site supervisor responsible for ensuring grounds, buildings and vocational areas are safe, compliant and inspirational for pupils, staff and visitors.

What You’ll Do

  • Carry out general maintenance, emergency repairs and upkeep of buildings, grounds and vocational areas.
  • Coordinate key site services including security, fire safety, access control, cleaning, waste management and grounds maintenance.
  • Supervise facilities operatives, cleaners and external contractors to ensure safe, high‑quality work.
  • Complete statutory Health & Safety checks (fire alarms, emergency lighting, legionella, asbestos, equipment checks, ladder inspections, etc.) and support PAT testing.
  • Manage opening/closing procedures, contribute to the emergency/fire marshal rota and maintain accurate HSE and building compliance records using digital systems.
  • Ensure tools, equipment and learning resources are safe, compliant and well maintained, while advising the Vocational Lead on resource needs and priorities.

  • Comfortable supervising others and coordinating contractors.
  • Organised, reliable and able to prioritise a varied workload.
  • A strong communicator who can work well with staff across the school.
  • Someone who takes pride in keeping environments safe, tidy and well‑presented.
  • Driving licence required.
  • Experience in a school or similar setting is beneficial but not essential – commitment to high standards and willingness to get stuck in is paramount.
