Location: Copper Fields School, Gunnislake, PL18 9EH

Salary: £22,160.62 per annum (£13.25 per hour) (not pro rata)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday

Rota: Monday 8.30am – 5.00pm | Tuesday to Friday 8.30am – 3.45pm

Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

Start: March 2026

About the Role

We’re looking for a motivated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Copper Fields School. You will help pupils with varied and complex needs reach their potential academically, socially, and emotionally. This is a rewarding role for anyone passionate about supporting learning in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment.

You Will

  • Work with individual pupils and small groups to support learning and development
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons tailored to pupils’ needs
  • Prepare classrooms, resources, and materials to create engaging learning environments
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage participation and engagement
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Monitor and provide feedback on pupil progress to teaching staff
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of individual education plans
  • Assist in maintaining high standards of behaviour, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing
  • Support extra-curricular activities, trips, and learning experiences as required
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team, sharing best practice and supporting colleagues

About You

  • Motivated to make a difference in the lives of pupils with SEN/ASC
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and patience
  • Can work flexibly and creatively to support learning
  • Demonstrates resilience, positivity, and a willingness to learn
  • Has previous experience in education (desirable but not essential)
