Location: Baston House School, Bromley, Kent, BR2 7AB

Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday–Friday | 8.30am - 4.30pm

Salary: £24,675.00 per annum (not pro rata)

Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

About the Role

As an Autism Practitioner, you will support students to access and engage with their learning in a safe, structured, and stimulating environment. Working closely with teachers, tutors, and the wider multi-professional team, you will provide tailored support that promotes independence, social development, and emotional wellbeing. You will also assist in planning, delivering, and adapting resources and interventions to meet individual needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support teachers and tutors in delivering high-quality, inclusive education for students with autism
  • Assist in the implementation of school policies, procedures, and individualised education plans
  • Provide targeted one-to-one and small group support to enable students to access the curriculum with increasing independence
  • Promote students’ physical, academic, social, and moral development
  • Organise and maintain engaging classroom environments, including resources and displays
  • Contribute to the preparation and upkeep of student documentation, such as Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs), Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Communication Profiles, Risk Assessments, and Pastoral Support Plans
  • Work collaboratively with staff to ensure student safety both on and off-site, in line with risk assessments
  • Contribute to the school’s ongoing development, improvement plans, and wider initiatives

About You

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at minimum Level 4 (Grade C)
  • Has experience working with pupils with autism and/or challenging behaviour
  • Can work independently and as part of a team
  • Has strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Is adaptable, patient, and proactive, committed to helping pupils achieve their potential
