We're looking for a hands-on Mechanical Fitter - Site Engineer to join our field service team. You'll be working predominantly off-site at customer locations, assembling, installing, maintaining and repairing industrial machinery and equipment. Travel time is paid and a company van + fuel card is provided. This is a varied role - no two days are the same and you won't be stuck in a workshop.

Key Duties

  • Build and install mechanical systems, structures and industrial equipment on customer sites, working to spec and deadlines.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance to keep machinery running efficiently and minimise downtime.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs on industrial equipment - bearings, gearboxes, hydraulics, conveyors, pumps etc.
  • Read and work from engineering drawings to construct, install and modify mechanical systems and structures.
  • Work safely on customer sites, follow permits/RAMS, and maintain high standards of workmanship.
  • Complete job sheets, service reports and highlight any issues/recommendations to the client.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in assembly, installation and maintenance of industrial machinery/equipment.
  • Strong mechanical fitting skills - fitting, alignment, fault diagnosis, hand tools + power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings - essential for installing systems correctly.
  • Self-motivated, problem-solver, happy working independently on site.
  • Full UK driving licence - essential due to travel. No points = preferred for insurance.

Desirable/Bonus:

  • Experience constructing mechanical systems and structures from scratch.
  • Hydraulics/pneumatics knowledge.
  • Previous field service/site engineer experience.
  • Welding skills or fabrication background.
