Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for a Senior Sourcing Lead based in Port Talbot. This is initially a 12-month contract, with the potential to extend or lead to a permanent position. The role is office-based, with the opportunity to work remotely two days per week after training.

The successful candidate will support the management of a multi-billion supply chain globally, delivering a professional procurement service and working closely with internal and external stakeholders. The role is due to start ASAP, subject to the successful result of a medical assessment, which includes a drug and alcohol test.

  • 36.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
  • Monday to Thursday, 8:30am-4:45pm. Friday, 8:30am-3:45pm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the team in managing a multi-billion supply chain globally.
  • Negotiate with vendors and suppliers to achieve maximum value and the lowest possible cost base.
  • Help achieve commercially robust management of goods, services and materials.
  • Source goods, materials and services for Tata Steel that align with Tata's sustainability values.
  • Work with Senior Management to ensure the security of goods, materials and services while minimising disruption to business operations.
  • Develop, deploy and execute UK commercial contracts.
  • Support the tendering process.
  • Conduct market research to ensure an appropriate route to market and a fit-for-purpose supply base.
  • Deliver a professional procurement service to the business.
  • Liaise with stakeholders internally and externally, face-to-face, over the telephone, virtually and via email.
  • Create strong business partnerships and act as the go-to for commercial advice, guidance and support with challenges.
  • Use SAP and Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint, daily.

Essential Requirements

  • Strong background within procurement, ideally within Corporate or Facilities Management categories.
  • Driving licence and access to your own vehicle due to the size and nature of the site.
  • Excellent knowledge of procurement practice and the sourcing process cycle.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good IT literacy, particularly Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Teams and Excel.
  • SAP experience would be an advantage.
  • Sound numeracy skills.
  • Ability to use your own initiative and apply a proactive approach to tasks.
