Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for an experienced Senior Product Designer / Retail Designer to join a growing design team based near Swindon, Wiltshire.

You'll be responsible for developing practical, cost-effective product designs from initial briefs through to detailed manufacturing drawings and prototypes, working closely with clients, suppliers, contractors and internal project teams. International travel is required, so applicants must hold a valid passport and full UK driving licence.

Key Duties

  • Produce accurate 2D and 3D technical drawings in line with project requirements.
  • Create detailed manufacturing drawings suitable for contractors, suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Develop practical and cost-effective product designs from initial client briefs.
  • Produce complete technical drawing packages covering all relevant design requirements.
  • Use Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks to develop detailed product designs.
  • Manage prototypes from initial concept through to production.
  • Liaise with buying and project management teams throughout the design process.
  • Develop client briefs, confirm requirements and communicate design proposals effectively.
  • Represent the company professionally when dealing with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Maintain drawing registers, issue sheets, CAD files and associated documentation.
  • Ensure CAD files and design documentation are accurately maintained and organised.
  • Ensure equipment and product designs comply with relevant Health & Safety requirements, CDM regulations and British Standards.
  • Report regularly to the Design Studio Manager regarding workload, priorities and project progress.
  • Support other designers and internal teams with design, printing and file management requirements.

Requirements

  • Product Design qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience within product design, retail design or a similar technical design environment.
  • Strong experience with Autodesk Inventor.
  • Experience using AutoCAD 2D/3D and/or SolidWorks.
  • Ability to produce and interpret detailed technical manufacturing drawings.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing techniques, materials and production processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet agreed deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with clients, suppliers or manufacturers is advantageous.
  • Full UK driving licence and valid passport essential due to international travel requirements.
