Acorn by Synergie is seeking an experienced and proactive Quarry Manager. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe working of all quarry operational activity. You will oversee all operations both on site and in the office, manage staff, coordinate production, and monitor all site systems. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with strong leadership skills and technical knowledge to contribute to the ongoing success of operations.
Key Duties
- Ensure the safe operation of all fixed and mobile plant operations in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Quarry Regulations 1999.
- Ensure a safe system of work is in place for all key tasks and activities.
- Maintain high standards of best practice in all relevant areas and promote safe behaviour.
- Deliver weekly toolbox talks and carry out daily briefings at the start of each shift.
- Carry out inductions for all site personnel, visitors, and contractors, and maintain records.
- Report near hits, unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and incidents through the company Highviz portal.
- Carry out regular safety inspections of all workplaces within the quarry and ensure reports are documented.
Responsibilities
- Combine technical knowledge with management skills to ensure the profitability of the quarry site.
- Check production levels are maintained safely and to schedule.
- Balance production to meet sales expectations.
- Liaise with sales and commercial teams.
- Manage performance of the production process and set and monitor targets.
- Provide information and statistics on quarry performance.
- Develop links with local groups and organisations.
- Manage and regulate the quarry budget.
- Maintain up-to-date records and complete required paperwork.
- Ensure relevant government health and safety legislation is implemented across the site.
Site Duties
- Closely monitor all quarry areas to ensure extraction and processing work is completed to the highest standard and most efficient methods.
- Provide active leadership and management of safety processes and culture to minimise risk.
- Liaise with staff and manage any technical or staffing challenges.
- Undertake regular site inspections and risk assessments.
- Examine materials produced to maintain high product quality.
- Assess equipment and material levels.
- Order items as required.
- Ensure all vehicles on site are maintained to a good standard.
- Operate and maintain the company Integrated Management System for SHE controls.
- Carry out root cause analysis on breakdowns to prevent recurrence.
