Acorn by Synergie is currently recruiting for a Process Safety Engineer for an exciting new permanent opportunity on behalf of their client in Swansea. The Mond Nickel Refinery, owned & operated by Vale Europe recently celebrated 120 years of production, and is one of the world’s leading Nickel refineries. Vale are globally one of the world’s largest mining companies, with operations in the UK, Asia, the USA and across Europe. The Process Safety Engineer is the subject matter expert and technical authority for across CNR on matters pertaining to process safety management and related risks. The Process Safety Engineer’s focus is supporting production and processing improvement through risk identification and management with recognised industrial practices following required regulations, standards, and guidelines. This role will identify problems, issues, and concerns to eliminate risks through inspection of facilities, engineering review of machinery and processes, and look at ways to identify and correct potential risks as well as ensure safety regulation compliance. Reporting to the Engineering Manager the incumbent will have worked in Process Safety at COMAH Sites (Preferably Upper Tier), have experience in facilitating PHA processes such as HAZOP, BOW-TIE, HAZ-ID, LOPA, is detail focused and has an ability to understand complex process plants. Has knowledge and experience in Functional Safety and DSEAR. It is essential that applicants are IT literate and have a working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint and Excel. The successful candidate will have experience in oil, gas, or petrochemical industries, excellent communication skills and be able to work independently to ensure the success of their team.
